Hello all

With regrets I have to let you all know that prices on all RugBadger equipment is going up this month.

Costs are up across the board and our margins have been getting pretty slim, and now we just got notice that the RugBadger Pro's high torque motor has gone up by 52%

Bottom line is that prices are going up on everything from the RugBadgers, EZ towers, powered towers, Yorkster finishers and even RugRevolutions.

The increase will happen in just a few days, so if you were thinking about rug cleaning equipment for 2010 just give me a call.

Dusty
866 885 7847
http://rugbadger.com/equipment/equipment.html

Many times we have 10 rugs to dust at any given time. Many of the rugs have never been dusted, needless to say the particulate matter is extreem and it can take TIME to dust just 10 rugs. The labor cost is high.

Question: Has anyone devised some kind of device that would pull the badger at a slow pace in some kind of automated fashion? The productivity thing kind of bothers me. Maybe I could find somebody at min wage to dust rugs on a part time budget.

If we did 10 rugs a day maybe I could justify a larger piece of equipment.

I'm not quite sure of what to do. I am ready to clean 2 rugs that are a little higher end than I have cleaned before. One is silk foundation mostly wool pile and silk accents. The other is cotton foundation wool pile with silk accents. My question is do I absolutely have to use tyvek to protect the back of the rugs from using the rug badger to dust them. I am not planning on using the metal grids under the rug. The reason I am asking about the tyvek is that I know several building contractors and none of them have any scrap pieces or partial rolls of tyvek. I really didn't want to buy a new roll of it because it comes in rolls of 9' x 150' for $150.00 they have rolls that are 3' x 50' for $43.00 but I would think that it would be better to have a piece that is wide enough to cover most or all of the rug. I can get generic tyvek FOR $98.00 FOR 9' X 150' roll. Any suggestions ?

                                                     Doug Moerschbacher

Took the Rugbadger on the road to Cape Cod

Just wanted to share an experience we had with the Rugbadger last week. I've a client that owns an Inn down near the end of Cap cod about 2hours from us. We clean every Jan/feb in midweek when not many are staying. In the past we vacuumed and cleaned 4 orientals and regular carpet but I suggested we bring the Badger (1 grid)and they were delighted to be able to this if it meant they wouldn't lose their rugs for days.
They couldn't believe how much dust etc.came out of their rugs.

So the badger will be going to cape cod at least once a year even if in the winter.

I see more opportunities for simillar situations down the road

Thanks Dusty, it has made a huge difference in our rug cleaning.

Terry

how to Badger a rug.

I have been asked many times how to optimize the Badgering process. Here is exactly how we do it at Luv a rug!

First off, if you are using a RB pro then hook up a vac to the port to minimize the dust from getting all over your shop. This will greatly improve your air quality and the amount of time you spend dusting your shop.

Secondly you need to roll out your Metal dusting grid. This is specially designed to hold down the dust due to its 1" grid design that stops all the soil from blowing out from under the rug, the standing wire that will not trap the soils and the way it rolls up for easy storage when not in use.

#1: Grin the rug to see exactly how loaded the rug is. (this means to sharply bend the rug on the warp or weft line to look deep into the fibers) This will help you to decide exactly how much time the particular rug will take to Badger.

#2: Do a test Badgering. Run the Badger quickly over the back of the rug while suspended on the dusting grids. Push back and forth like a vac but a bit slower.

#3: Examine what has dropped into the grid. If next to no grit has dropped then you are done and ready for the washing process.

#4: If plenty of soil dropped out on the test then you are ready to Badger. I recommend 1 minute per ten square feet. Ie. a 9x12 rug will take 10.8 mins, we round this up to the next min of coarse.

#5: Examine the soil dropped into the grid. If plenty then mark the work tag with a big "RB" in permanent ink.

#6 Give the top of the rug a very quick vac with a revolving brush upright to remove loosened soils.

#7: Do your wash cycle weather it be extraction or full wash.

#8: Dry the rug fully by hanging

#9: Test all rug for particulate soil by wacking the back of the rug while it is hanging and holding a piece of paper under the rug. If no dirt comes out then you are done. If more soil comes the you now need to post Badger

#10 Post Badger the rug for another 1min/10 sq. ft.

#11 Examine how much soil comes out and then make a judgement call on if you need to do more Badgering.

#12 Introduce your frequency program to your client that will reward them with a FREE recleaning if they Lug their rugs to your "Cash-N-Carry studio" within 6 months and now you never have to deal with a disgusting rug again!

If you want more info on exactly how this frequency program works just email me.

BIG TIP #1

for rugs that have severely impacted soil you can PARK the RB on the rug in one spot for extended periods of time. Just make sure that it is not fussing of damaging the back of the rug. If it is too fragile a rug for this then lay a very large piece of TYVEK house wrap paper over the back to the rug. This will protect the back of the rug from friction but still get the particulate soil out.

BIG TIP #2

Some rugs have too soft a pile for the dusting grids. Do these rugs directly on the floor. Type of rugs to watch for are Silk, Faux silk and some thick chinese rugs.

Hope this all helps. If you have developed any other techniques to make the job go quicker please respond.
