Neither have I, but after reading and listening to some that have, i may give it a go.
I don't agree with the large 2" vacuum hose for these little vacuums, the orifice on the vacuum cleaner is not 2", so I believe it would be a waste of time due to the smaller orifice as opposed to the bigger vac; hose.
I also feel that having 50' of vacuum hose out is a bit impractical due to the loss of vacuum over such a long length.
These small vacuum cleaners are not made for such long suck.
I have a back pack vac; that I may try, this means that i will have a short vac; hose, ( just from the 'Badger; to my back ), and the lead I can tape to the 'Badger; lead to save extra leads and hoses on the work floor.
I have recently hooked mine up to a vac as most of ya'll know. While I like it much better hooked up to the vac there is still a lot of fibers that make it out into the shop. However, it has greatly reduced our dust bunnies.
Shorty,
Our hose is only 2" because that is what we had. We are only using a piece that is 18' long though. Also our shop vac that we use it with has a 2" inch opening. I would have used something smaller but I had enough stuff to make it work without buying anything and so that is what we did.

Hi Jimmy, a moot question for you.
By covering the pipe that lets out the excess dust, where does the dust settle or go to ??
Reason I ask is that if the dust is settling on any electrical connections, it can build up over time, and in times of high humidity collect moisture.
This makes your dust damp.
Dampness and electricity make a good conductor.
In short, you may have a short.
Short circuit that is
This could have several effects.
The operator may be electrocuted.
The Rugbadger could be burnt out electrically.
The premises may even catch on fire via the electrical wiring in the building.
Every so often, although it is a pain in the ... yeah, I take off the cover plates and blast the insides with compressed air, similar to degreasing my car engine I guess.
Just another little form of maintenance I do with a lot of my equipment.

I can not speak from the RugBadger port, But, I can sure nuff tell you and have been sayin it from the start.
Miss HIldy has a vac with bag attached and sucks from the top of the torture chamber. Depending how much she is used, that bag sure collects a lot and my mini plant is not full of dust from massaging rugs... "We have dust all over cause we is wanting that there country look" Just kidding. You want fluff?? hook a tank vac to it,
